This cape controller was custom built by the production and used by Christopher Reeve in Superman the Movie and Superman II to simulate wind in the cape during studio shots of flying scenes. The controller has several rods attached to an uneven shaft that move them up and down in a varied pattern. This was a practical solution to provide the effect of the cape flowing through the wind during flight. A very rare artifact of film making before computer generated graphics. Electronics are untested, but the shaft can be moved by hand to view the working effect. Measures 26″ wide x 31″ long.
